Единственный известный мне продукт Ericsson по части модемов - это M7450. Продукт достался Ericsson в качестве наследства неудачного совместного предприятия, которое носило название ST-Ericsson. M7450 начали сэмплировать с 4q2013 года, модем был, в частности, показан на MWC2014, а изделия на нем появятся в продаже во второй половине 2014 года.
Модем M7450 это:
- поддержка агрегации несущих
- мало места на печатной плате (2 чипа, решение RFIC CA)
- поддержка до 20 частотных диапазонов
- форм-фактор M.2
- проверенная работа VoLTE - на действующих сетях TD и FD
- малое потребление энергии в режиме LTE
- поддержка 5 режимов: GSM, 3G/WCDMA, 3G/TD-CDMA, FDD LTE, TD-LTE
Ericsson говорит, что получила несколько SKU одного из крупнейших вендоров смартфонов. Также заявляется, что компания рассчитывает попасть в топ-3 поставщиков тонких модемов. Первые два - это, несомненно, Qualcomm и Mediatek. Идея, конечно, хорошая, посмотрим, что у Ericsson из этого получится. Рынок чипсетов весьма конкурентен.

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) appoints Robert Puskaric Senior Vice President and Head of Business Unit Modems. He will remain part of Ericsson's Global Leadership Team. Puskaric brings extensive experience from modems business where he was head of Ericsson Mobile Platforms 2006-2009. Robert Puskaric succeeds Mats Norin, who has headed the integration of the modems business into Ericsson after the dismantling of the joint venture ST-Ericsson.
Hans Vestberg, President and CEO of Ericsson, said: "Robert brings relevant experience and strong business acumen as the modems business enters a new and exciting phase. We now have one of the industry's most advanced LTE thin modem and are trialing with the first customers. Mats Norin has been instrumental in successfully bringing the M7450 to market and establishing the modems business as an integrated part of Ericsson."
Robert Puskaric has been Head of Ericsson's region Northern Europe and Central Asia and member of Ericsson's Global Leadership Team since 2010.
Robert Puskaric said: "I am excited to take on this role and to return to the modems business. I am looking forward to joining the highly skilled team at Modems and ensure together that we successfully bring our portfolio to market."
Puskaric was born in Helsingborg, Sweden in 1969, and graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from the School of Economics and Management at Lund University, Sweden, in 1996.
Since August 2013, Ericsson has an LTE thin modems business with industry leading technology and intellectual property. The operation was integrated into Ericsson after the split-up of the joint venture ST-Ericsson last year. Modems are part of Ericsson's vision of 50 billion connected devices and the ambition is to be a top-three supplier in the thin modems market. The first product, Ericsson M7450, was released for commercial use in the fourth quarter last year. Work is ongoing with a tier one smartphone manufacturer to integrate M7450 in their devices. Net sales are expected in the second half of 2014
